make the cut baby blanket tutorial...

You need 4 pieces of coordinating fabric.
Cut to the approx. size of "finished" blanket.
{I made mine 21x 21 1/2- to small to wrap a
tiny baby with, but perfect for a toddler
to get attached to & take places :)}
 Note: w/ 4 layers this blanket can
tend to get heavy-
so keep that in mind when deciding size!
Lay 3 face down & the 4th face up
directly on top of each other.

Using a yard stick draw a line
{w/ washable fabric pen!}
from corner to corner.
{a diagonal line}
Now stitch on that line {backstitching at ends}.
Stitch another line in the same direction 3/4"
from the first line. Continue stitching lines across
across top of blanket, diagonally & 3/4" apart, until
you have covered entire blanket.

Note:You can mark these lines w/ a fabric pen
& yd. stick or I have a seam guide that
attaches to my presser foot & makes short work
of getting the exact width between the lines!
{& keeping them straight!}
When entire blanket is stitched
take scissors & cut between stitched lines-
& through the top 3 layers of fabric.
The 3 that are all facing in the same direction!
Cut between every stitched line!
Note: Notice how I am cutting down the middle
exactly between the stitched lines.
When finished- check size of blanket,
it may need trimmed up as fabric can shift
when stitching!
Now stitch 5/8" around outside edge of blanket
being careful to keep edges flat as you go.
Note: It is easier to do this if you stitch from
the cut side of the blanket.
Clip around the edges
{to the stitched line you just made}
Again do this between the stitched lines!
Note:3 layers will already be cut- mainly you are
just cutting through the 4th!}
Note: at corners clip to the point.

The last step is to wash & dry the blanket!
& ta-da!
Here it is- very simple & easy
& the great thing I like about these blankets
are they look better the more they are washed!
Unlike most :)!
Good luck & hope you enjoy making this sweet
blanket!
